LMi.net Windows XP Setup

1. You will need to open the "Internet Options" control panel. From the new XP Start menu, select "Control Panel", then click "Switch to Classic View" on left side of the window. This gives direct access to all the Control Panels, from which you can choose "Internet Options". This brings up the Internet Properties window.

2. Click the tab at the top labeled "Connections".

3. Click the "Setup" button to run the Internet Connection Wizard. There is an informative explanation screen. Press NEXT.

4. Select the first option "Connect to the Internet". Press NEXT.

5. Select the second option "Set up my connection manually" (FYI- if you select "Choose from a list" you get a list of one ISP- Microsoft's own MSN- How surprising!). Press NEXT.

6. Select the first option "Connect using a dial-up modem". Press NEXT.

7. It asks for the name of your ISP. Type "LMI" and press NEXT.

6. Type in the telephone number which is local to you and press NEXT. (see chart)

7. Enter your username and password. These were the two items you specified on your signup agreement. You will need to enter your password twice for confirmation. We recommend switching ON the option for "Make this the default Internet connection". If other people with accounts on your computer will also be using this connection, you can turn on the option to allow them to use this same connection. We would advise NOT using the Internet Connection Firewall with a dial-up account, as it may interfere with your use of the Internet.

8. Now you will get the final screen, giving you the option of making a shortcut to this connection on your desktop.

If you want to edit this connection profile later, you can do so by opening the Network Connections window (Start->Connect To->Show all connections) Voila! You're done. Double-Click on "Internet Explorer" to surf the Web, and "Outlook Express" to access your mail.
